Virtuous 2.7 Released

Virtuous 2.7 has been released! Featured in this released is the introduction of Smooth Sense by Jercik. This provides a subtle UI enhancement consistent with the overall goals of this project, to stay close to stock. If you have not seen Smooth Sense, visit Jercik's original thread on XDA for an overview and some pictures. Check out the changelog for a detailed list of what is included.

This was the most throughly tested version made available thus far, thanks to our new beta testing group. Some of you may ask why there is no "patch" version being provided. The reality is that many folks have applied numerous mods, themes and other customizations, the permutations of which are simply impossible to test. By installing a full version of the ROM, we can be certain everyone experiences a seamless, bootloop-free upgrade process. And hopefully, re-applying your mods is quick and easy using ROM Manager.

Special thanks to ihtfp69 for providing an immense amount of guidance as I modified the framework-res.apk and to the beta test group who was diligent in providing valuable feedback and bug reports.

Hi RMK-
With the modified framework-res.apk, will "standard" icon replacements still work? In other words, on my Virtuous 2.6 phone, I have swapped the notification window and notification bar icons for those in ManUP rEVOlution port, but I have NOT applied the full theme. It works great for me, but I want to know if the changes to framework-res make using the "standard" icon files impossible. Thanks. Also, will socalmiles version of revolution work?

Yes, to both questions. Either setup will work just fine.

I used EZ-Customizer to restore the GPS locator icon and now Smooth Sense is gone. Can you add an option to replace it, or should I reflash the whole ROM again?

I just installed 2.7. All looks great! One thing I did notice though is that in software information it still shows the kernel as adrynalyne-virtuous v1. Should this not say v2 now? Thanks.

@762x51 - I'll take a look at that now. Should be an easy fix.

@Dwayne - That's expected. It really isn't a new kernel, just a new ramdisk. I should have called it v1A. :)

@762x51 I've updated the package. Give the Customizer another run and you should be able to restore the icon and have Smooth Sense.

Forgive my ignorance, but if I install the 2.7 update of the ROM with the custom kernel using ROM manager, will I be able to easily restore some of the mods I have made such as the use of the INCredble REVOlution theme and will it alter the setcpu settings I have in place right now?

I can't find the Droid sound file to put back in the boot animation. I actually like that sound when I boot my phone.

Well... I just dove in and updated. Not a big deal to restore things the way I wanted afterward.
Thanks for the awesome work on the ROM -- it is working great for me.

Thanks RMK! Beer money inbound!

Did we lose the ability for the transparent notification shade? I remember the mod was available in 2.6, but can't seem to find it in 2.7.

There seems to be an update to gmail out but I suspect something with the ROM will not allow me to install it. If you could do whatever needs to be done so that either 1) we can install it or 2) we can "flash" it in, I would be most appreciative. Keep up the good work.

I managed to get the old gmail (2.2.1) uninstalled with Titanium Backup and restarted my phone and the new gmail (2.3) installed fine form the market then. Just thought I'd do a follow-up on my request. Thanks.

Ever since I updated, my Facebook contact pics won't show up in Messaging. Any ideas?

Here are the odds:

1).Whenever I exit a wifi area or a no-radio area, MT4G picks up the mobile network signal ridiculously slow, if you look into the status bar, it says the mobile network is turning on...sometimes I got lucky, but usually it takes more than 1 min or ever...
2).Things can turn even worse that, I lost call signal and mobile network signal at the same time when I exit a no-radio area or wifi covered area. No bars, no G/E/3G/H, AT THE SAME TIME.
3). Sometimes, even if you see bars there and 3G icon, you can't dial or receive any call, it disconnect immediately.

I called TMO, they said signal in my area is fine and they even re-registered my SIM card. I did a full wipe and re-installed Virtuous Unity 2.37.0, good for a day or two, and the problem kicked back in.

BTW, I'm on Radio 26.09.04.26_M

I also uninstalled some suspicious apps that I just installed or updated within the days I first ran into this problem. No luck...

I really love this ROM, anybody could help?
